Poem, author anonymous

When I die,
If you need to weep,
Cry for your brother or sister
Walking the street beside you.

And if you need me,
Put your arms around someone
And give that someone
That which you would give to me.

I want to leave you something -
Something better than words.
Or sounds.

Look for me in the people I've known.
Or loved.

And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live in your eyes
And not on your mind.

You can love me most
By letting hands touch hands.

Love doesn't die,
People do.
So, when all that is left of me
Is love . . .

Give me away.

Mom's Song
words and music by Kenneth R. Thompson
(c) 2000

Right, so you're gone
Stars in your crown keep shining on
We all see better for that light.

Right, we're still here
But your message comes through loud and clear
Precious little time to get it right.

Chorus
Believe yourself, you can do it
Create some love, let's get down to it
Don't take yourself too seriously.

Kind, gentle one,
Making sure we all have fun
Songs and games for us to play.

There's no way
To get out all there is to say
We're gonna miss you, each in our own way.
Chorus

Oh, Lord above,
To be touched by this kind of love
Is to be blessed and smiled upon.

Back down here,
Your message comes through loud and clear.
So we'll try to sing along.
Chorus

Feed the birds, play a song
Sewing costumes 'til dawn
Ride a bike, play a game
Build a castle with sand
Chewing gum, playing cards
Get some fun, play guitar
Help a friend, iron a tie
Throw a ball, bake a pie
Scare a squirrel, love a cat
When it's your turn at bat, don't take yourself too seriously.

Once I found out the secret of the Universe. I have forgotten what it was, but I know that the Creator does not take Creation seriously, for I remember that He sat in Space with all His Work in front of Him and laughed. -- Lord Dunsany, "The Hashish Man"
